Creating a Comfortable, Safe, and Attractive Home for Lifelong Living

Date:  Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Time:  1-2 p.m. Eastern, 12-1 p.m. Central, 11 a.m. -12 p.m. Mountain, 10-11 a.m. Pacific

If you are like most people, you want to remain in your home for as long as possible.  Unfortunately, one of the most common problems people face is living in a home that has become unsafe and no longer matches their needs or abilities.  This webinar will show you how you can create an attractive, safe, easy-to-live-in home that all residents, regardless of age or ability, can enjoy.  Learn:

  • What Universal Design is and how it can benefit  people of all ages and abilities
  • Little to no-cost home updates you can make that will make it easier for you to go about your daily activities
  • What a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) is, how they can help you with home updates, and how to find one
  • Home features and products that can increase access and functionality

Presenters:

  • Bill Slease (CAPS), an award-winning second generation home builder and remodeler who specializes in assisting clients with their accessible housing needs.
  • Jennifer Thompson (Allied Member, ASID), an interior designer who creates functional and beautiful living environments that make life better for all residents.

Moderator:

  • Amy Levner (AARP Education and Outreach, Housing and Mobility Options)

To participate in the webinar, you must have a computer with Internet access and audio capability (internal or external speakers).  For Mac users, an audio bridge will be provided by e-mail, shortly before the webinar.

Not able to attend on August 31?  A recording of the webinar will be posted on the AARP website for you to view at your convenience.  Check back at AARP.org after the webinar.
